Design that moves you
(Literally)
WHO I AM
I am a designer, educator, and researcher working between graphic design and human–computer interaction. As an Assistant Professor of Graphic and Experience Design at Virginia Tech, I teach undergraduate design courses that emphasize process, experimentation, and human-centered thinking. My research operates through Research through Design, using making as a mode of inquiry to study how visual and spatial design shapes what people understand and how they act on it. Much of my current work applies this to health, fitness, and physical activity, where quantitative feedback dominates and often fails the people it is meant to help. I approach design as both craft and communication, and my teaching grows directly from this studio-based, exploratory process.
